What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBranksomeHall, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBranksomeHall event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
What is "The Impact of Accelerated Evolution"?
Evolution: the change in heritable characteristics over time. The basis of evolution is how an organism interacts and adapts in response to changes in its environment. Organisms naturally evolved slowly in accordance with changes in its surrounding environment - but what happens when the rate of change accelerates? How does this organism adapt? This organism can be anything: technology, the arts, society as a whole. What impact has the last several decades of accelerated change had on us and our world?
